Jo muutaman viikon ajan on ollut pilvistä ja harmaata. Vihdoin pilvet ovat alkaneet vähän rakoilemaan, ja aurinko pääsee taas paistamaan.

It's been cloudy and grey for weeks. But in the past few days, the clouds have finally started to move, revealing the sun behind them.

Matkailu turruttaa. / Traveling makes you numb.

Heti Sallatunturista palaamisen jälkeisenä päivänä lähdimme kiertämään rannikkoa, sillä olimme kuulleet, että eräällä merenlahdella on nähty viiksitimaleja. Matka sinänsä ei ole pitkä, n. 100 kilometriä. Meitä onnisti, sillä hetken matkaa käveltyämme kuulimme jo viiksitimaliparven ääniä. Niitä oli vaikea kuvata, sillä ne pysyivät ruokojen seassa lähellä maan pintaa.

Siitä lähdimme kohti toista merenlahtea, josta löysimme ison parven urpiaisia. En ole ennen nähnyt tai kuvannut urpiaisia, ja jäi hieman epäselväksi, onko kuvaamani yksilö tundraurpiainen vai urpiainen.

Matkalla kotiin löysimme myös hiiripöllön. Yhteensä minulle uusia lajeja tuli ainakin 3, ja tällä hetkellä kuvattuja lintujalajeja minulla on 121.

The next day after we returned from our trip to Sallatunturi, we went on the west coast, because we had heard that a group of bearded reedlings had been spotted on one specific bay. The distance isn't that long after all, about 100 kilometers. We got lucky, because after a few steps we heard their voices. They were difficult to photograph, because they stayed on the roots of the reeds close to the ground.

Then we went on another bay, where we found a large group of redpolls. I have never seen/photographed redpolls before, and it's still unclear to me if the redpoll i photographed is a common redpoll or a hoary redpoll.

On our way back home we found a northern hawk-owl. I got 3 new bird species and at the moment i have 121 different kinds of  birds on my "Birds i have photographed" list.
